The Best Creamy Cauliflower Chocolate Smoothie (low sugar, vegan)

Say hello to your new favorite smoothie (or smoothie bowl).

No but really..

As someone who drinks a daily smoothie, I’m always looking for new ingredients, flavour combos, and any way to keep it interesting. Despite the addition of cauliflower (yes, I know exactly what you’re thinking..), this recipe is my new absolute favourite and one that I have been drinking daily.

After seeing a few posts floating around on Instagram, I have to admit I was skeptical myself. I wanted to try it but couldn’t find a recipe that really caught my eye. So, naturally I started to experiment and play around with flavour combos so I could create something I can actually enjoy and share.

Enter this creamy choco- cauliflower smoothie. It’s perfectly sweet, chocolatey, coconutty, and insanely delicious. It's refined sugar free, vegan, dairy free, paleo, pretty much ticks all the boxes. The ingredients are simple and affordable: almond milk, peanut butter, cacao, flaxseed and cauliflower. And it literally takes 3 minutes to prepare. I love that I can start my day with a few servings of fruit and veg and it’s filled with fiber which keeps me full for hours. Hello dream smoothie!

Feel free to make your own substitutions, use almond butter for PB, try coconut milk or even water instead of almond, add in chia seeds, hemp seeds, your favourite protein powder, collagen peptides, etc.

WHAT YOU NEED

  • 3/4 banana (frozen)
  • 1/4 cup cauliflower
  • 3/4-1 cup almond milk
  • 1 TBSP raw cacao powder
  • 1 tso vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp cinnamon 
  • pinch of sea salt 

Add all your ingredients to your blender and blend until smooth and creamy. If you want to enjoy it as a smoothie bowl, then make sure to add less liquid to ensure a thicker consistency.
* The cauliflower and frozen banana will make it super creamy anyways, but you want to be sure your toppings don't fall in!
